The Foodery is a 100% e-commerce driven business seeking a dynamic web developer who will be responsible for design and implementation solutions for a variety of projects for The Foodery’s web site.  The Web Developer will understand the company’s position in the marketplace and help create impressions and experiences for customers that inspire them make online experiences more enjoyable and efficient.    The Web Developer will work within the technology team and seek influence from many different employees and customers.

The Foodery in Malden, MA wants an experienced e-commerce developer to work on our tech stack 15 hour per week or project-by-project. Expert at Woocommerce, PHP is required. The opportunity could become full time for the right candidate. You will be joining a collaborative small team dedicated to providing the best possible experience for the company’s customers and employees.

The Foodery is a Boston-based fresh meal company powered by an e-commerce platform and automated backend. Since 2013, we have served busy Boston families who demand locally sourced, fully prepared meals but don’t have time to shop, cook or meal plan. Driven by our passion for farm-to-table ingredients and creating amazing culinary experiences for our customers, our passion is derived from sourcing from local farms and crafting meals according to our ingredient standards. We fulfill orders with our full-scale commercial kitchen in Malden MA and deliver to our customers’ homes using our last-mile delivery logistics.  Our technology gives our customers a unique end-to-end experience that we constantly try to improve.

Work in tandem with our existing tech team
Building new features, refining existing functionality

Perform projects in short sprints, coding, testing
Drafting systems requirements for new projects

Expert level WordPress/Woocommerce (like, seriously good)
Agile/SCRUM, preferably having used an AGILE project management tool like Pivotal Tracker or Asana (we use the former), Slack
Our customer acquisition processes are heavily integrated with Hubspot – be at least familiar
Code organization, performance, and best practices
Understanding web application security issues and solutions

JavaScript, NodeJS, JQuery, SQL, AJAX
Hubspot, Quickbase, MS Azure
API integrations of all kinds, REST

Ask for assistance rather than spending hours searching for how something works
Constantly reflect on clean, dry code, re-use, and modularization (humor is not the only thing you like DRY)
Are a software engineering purist at heart, but a pragmatist in practice (do it well, but “done is better than perfect”)
You test your code thoroughly. And you feel mildly ashamed when QA finds a hole you didn’t think of.
Are passionate about web technology and staying on the cutting edge

4-5 years with WordPress Woocommerce
Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent industry experience
You hit deadlines. You’ll jump on a bridge call. Your communication is tight.

This is a part-time or projects-based position at ~$4k/mo. If you’re the right fit, we want full-time help at a respective salary. Compensation is negotiable depending on candidate. Paid on income Form 1099.
